We're Back on the Blog!

It's official. I am a terrible blogger. Or maybe I just got off to a slow start... to say the least. Oops! It's been literally almost five months since my last post and so much has happened in that time, I'm not even going to try to recap it all.  Instead, to make things easier, I'm just going to pick up where we are in our lives now and fill in the missing spots along the way :) Here's to second chances in blogging!

Preston James just had his six-month birthday and he is an absolute bundle of joy! I am so head over heels in love with him and even when I think that there's no way that I could love him anymore, tomorrow comes and somehow, I find a way :) He is by far the happiest, silliest, most easy-going baby I have ever met... and while I am, of course, obviously prejudiced, everyone else who meets him says the same thing. He is a huge flirt and is always the life of the party (wonder where he got that from? ;) and we spend our days laughing, chatting and just enjoying each other's company. My good girlfriend Kaci (who is about to be a mama soon too!) just told me that there are basically two types of babies: readers and climbers, which is pretty self-explanatory... and let's just say that PJ is DEFINITELY a climber!
I also just started working SUPER part-time and am in the process of looking (kinda) for more work or work from home, but not wanting to leave my little guy for too many hours during the day. Bubba is working full-time plus at the same job, Fitness Director at Mountainside Fitness, and while we miss him when he's gone so much, we see him a lot more now that we're not always snowed in and I'm working out regularly. And while the drive up to Westminister from our new home in Cherry Creek (oh yes, we've moved since my last post, but more on that another time) is about 35 minutes (sans traffic- i.e. before 2:30pm), there are rarely any complaints from PJ and soon as he sees his papa. As I mentioned before, PJ and I happily spend all our days together and we have a great time... but daddy is the real treat :) Bubba and Preston have this amazing bond that sparks to life the second PJ sees or hears his daddy's voice. He instantly gets the biggest smile on his face and starts kicking his feet and squealing in delight... it is the greatest thing to watch and I get a kick out of it every time... I swear it will never get old (and I hope it lasts forever :)

Preston is 27 inches long and now weighs almost 18lbs- he's in the 85th percentile for height and the 55th percentile for weight. Considering he used to be in the 10th and 5th percentile for those two, respectively, we are so proud of what a big boy he's become! I recently just saw a newborn at our doctor's office who weighed 6lbs 2 oz (right about the size PJ was six months ago) and I was astonished at how teeny-tiny that looked! It's only been six months and I can't ever believe he was that small!

We also took him to Palm Springs recently for a family reunion and while it wasn't exactly easy to fly with a little guy (so many things to pack!), he was still an absolute angel on the plane... he slept the entire time! It was so wonderful so see my best friends and my family and we can't wait to see them again for Thanksgiving!

That's all for now, but rrom here on out, I am going to make an attempt to keep up to date on our lives... so hopefully each entry with be much shorter! (But still with tons of pics, I'm sure!)

  1. Liam and Dan have the same type of bond. As soon as Liam hears his daddy wake up and open the bedroom door he just looks toward the stairs and grins and says "Haaaiiiii!!"

Isn't is amazing how fast they grow? Liam is about to start walking and I am still remembering when he was barely rolling over. Walking seemed a lifetime away and now here he is, right on the edge of it.

I love seeing the pictures of you and your family. I am glad we get to do this mom thing together. I think about you all the time and can not wait for the day that Preston and Liam can play together.

I also got bad about blogging once things got busy, and that is ok. Being with your family is more important than writing a blog.
